VSS corruption by Acronis

Putting it on there in case it gets indexed (or I forget about it).
Decided to move off Acronis TI to Veeam. Removed TI, ran the cleanup tool, installed Veeam and attempted backup.
Nope. VSS error. Event Viewer showed Volume Shadow Copy Service error DeviceIoControl 0x80070079, The semaphore timeout period has expired in the log. Veeam also reported 0x80042306. A generic volume shadow copy was also hanging in the Device Manager, with Code 19 (registry info missing).
The easiest, although hardly elegant solution - reinstallation of Acronis
